ESG expert
Last 10 years have brought sustainability issues to the table in one way or another. In the Ministry of Social Affairs, I was dealing with policies for reconciling work and family life and among this, I was working with family-friendly employers. This provided first contact with companies which were ready to improve employees´ well-being and develop social values of the working culture. In the last five years in the Government Office, the focus was on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and on country-specific indicators. At the same time, I took part in the preparation of the Estonia´s long-term strategy. I assessed the quality of the impacts of sectoral policies and the measures of the EU's structural funds and the integration with sustainability. It got clear how important is policy coherence and the engagement and co-creation with interest groups.
I would like to use these practical experiences from policy making for the companys´ paths towards corporate sustainability. It is possible to bring changes through ESG reporting, but more important than that is how the company strategically and practically implements sustainability values.
