Environmental expert
Imre Banyasz is a recognized expert with more than 8 years of experience in shaping environmental and climate policy at both national and international levels. For the past five and a half years, Imre worked as an adviser at the Ministry of the Environment (Ministry of Climate), where he was the lead expert on climate issues for several emission-intensive sectors, such as energy production, industry and international transport. Before that, Imre worked for close to 3 years at the Environmental Board.
On the international level, Imre has supported negotiations in the UN Convention on Desertification and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. In the case of the latter, his focus has been on shaping global carbon markets. Since July 2022, Imre has also been elected to the supervisory body under the UNFCCC, tasked with implementing the carbon market of the Paris Agreement.
At Sustinere, Imre will support the team with climate risk assessments, establishing science-based targets and climate action plans, in the aim of assisting companies take the next step in climate action and becoming more sustainable.
Imre obtained a master's degree in geography and geoinformatics at the University of Copenhagen and also participated in international research projects on climate change research in the Arctic.
